Rod Adair grew up in Hagerman, and graduated from high school there in 1971. He and his wife of 34 years, Dana, live in Roswell where Rod works as a demographer and consultant and Dana teaches special education at Military Heights Elementary School. The Adair’s have two children, Lauren, 21, and Ian, 19.
Rod is a retired Army officer who holds a Bachelor's Degree in political science and a Master's Degree in Government. He is a graduate of the Defense Language Institute (Spanish) as well as the Command and General Staff College, and Airborne School among others. Rod was elected to the State Senate in 1996.
Senator Adair currently serves on the Senate Finance Committee.
Rod has served as Board Member of Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, the Roswell Symphony Orchestra and the Blackdom Memorial Foundation. He is also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Population Association of America, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation, the Lincoln Forum, the Abraham Lincoln Association, The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, the Underground Railroad Freedom Center, The Federalist Society, the National Rifle Association, Rotary International and American Mensa, Ltd. He was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2000, in Philadelphia, and a member of the Electoral College in 2004, serving as presiding officer for New Mexico.
