Senator Cynthia Nava is seeking re-election for the District 31 seat that she has held since 1993. 

Cynthia has been graded by the New Mexico Legislative Reports as the  in Dona Ana County for bills signed into law for the last four years.  She has also been ranked number 1 to 3 in that category for the  for the last two years.

Senator Nava serves as Chairman of the Senate Education Committee.  She also sponsored and passed the legislation that established the Department of Education and the Department of Higher Education.

 Cynthia has a Masters Degree in Special Education and is the Superintendent of the Gadsden Independent School District.  She has three daughters, Ali, Mima and Xochitl.
