Senator Pete Campos represents District 8, which includes San Miguel, Guadalupe, Torrance, Santa Fe, and Mora counties.
He was the Majority Party Caucus Chair from 1993 to 1996. He has sereved on several committees including, Committees’ Committee, Conservation Committee, Education Committee, Finance Committee, Capital Outlay Sub-Committee, Judiciary Committee, Rules Committee, vice-chair, Select Gaming Committee, and the Ways and Means Committee.
Before serving as a State Senator, Campos owned his own business, as a restaurant owner and from 1986 to 1990 he was the Mayor of the City of Santa Rosa. He serves as chief executive officer of Luna Community College and is the Superintendent of the Las Vegas City Schools.
In 1974 Campos double majored in Economics and Philosophy from the University of New Mexico. He recieved a MA in Counseling from New Mexico Highlands University in 1993. Later, in 2003, he recieved an EdD in Educational Leadership from the University of New Mexico.
Senator Pete Campos is married to his wife Lori Ann Ludi Campos and they have one son, Peter Campos.
