Griego leads District 1 money race

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — New campaign finance disclosures show that Democratic state Sen. Eric Griego has raised more money during the past quarter than other candidates in the race for the Albuquerque-area 1st Congressional District seat.

Griego collected about $273,600 in campaign contributions from January through March. Democratic Bernalillo County Commissioner Michelle Lujan Grisham netted $194,500 in contributions and loaned her campaign $15,000. Former Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez received $152,500 in contributions.

On the GOP side, former state Rep. Janice Arnold-Jones raised $55,300.

Federal Election Commission reports show Grisham with a campaign cash balance of about $344,700 at the end of March. Griego had cash-on-hand of $321,800 and Chavez had $201,400.

Arnold-Jones reported a campaign balance of $37,875.
