SUNLAND PARK, N.M. (AP) — Officials at City Hall said a planned Monday night special meeting was canceled but reports say it is back on. It is to be the City Council's fourth attempt to replace Mayor-elect Daniel Salinas, who was barred from taking office after being charged in a series of criminal cases.
Salinas was arrested before the election and charged with trying to force his opponent out of the race with a secretly recorded video of him getting a topless lap dance. He has since been arrested on a number of other charges including bribery, fraud and receiving kickbacks.
