Governor wants FBI check of e-mail leak

SANTA FE (KRQE) — A spokesman for Gov. Susana Martinez says the FBI has been asked to investigate whether a campaign email system was hacked to obtain correspondence involving the governor and her top advisers.

The allegation comes after a union-funded political action committee released email sent last year to the governor's deputy chief of staff at a 2010 gubernatorial campaign email address from a lawyer for a horse racing track and casino seeking a new lease at the state fairgrounds.

Independent Source PAC Executive Director Michael Corwin said the email came from a source who assured him it was obtained legally.

An FBI spokesman said Friday the agency has received information from the governor's office concerning the email issue but it's FBI policy to not comment on whether there's an investigation.
