CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — James Taylor and other North Carolina home-grown talent will be on stage on the evening that President Barack Obama accepts the Democratic nomination for re-election at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

The Democratic National Convention Committee announced Friday the singer of "Carolina on My Mind" will perform before Obama's acceptance speech Sept. 6. Taylor grew up in Chapel Hill and has held concerts to raise money for Obama's 2008 and 2012 campaigns.

Joining Taylor will be the Durham-based rock band Delta Rae and "Inspire the Fire," a performing arts group out of Charlotte that has been on network television.

Tens of thousands of delegates, convention guests and members of the public are expected at the stadium on the convention's final night.
