SUNLAND PARK, N.M. (KRQE) — Former Sunland Park mayoral candidate Daniel Salinas has been released from jail after a judge granted a motion erasing Salinas' remaining $200,000 bond.
A motion to delay his court case was also granted.
The former councilman was arrested last year over allegations of blackmail of his mayoral opponent , which allegedly involved a hired stripper, a lap dance and a hidden camera.
Conditions of his release include 24-hour electronic monitoring and a curfew.
Salinas has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges including extortion, bribery, fraud and illegal kickbacks.
He had been in the Do a Ana County Detention Center since his arrest nine months ago.
